Brattleboro property taxes, utility bills due Nov. 17

BRATTLEBORO-The second installment of the 2025 Brattleboro Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes will be due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17. Payments made after that date will have 1% interest added to the unpaid balance.

Town utility bills are also due by 5 p.m. Payments made subsequently will have an additional 1% interest, as well as an 8% penalty, added to the unpaid balance.

Payments can be mailed to the Town of Brattleboro, 230 Main St., Suite 111, Brattleboro, VT 05301. An official postmark of Nov. 17 will be considered an on-time payment.

Payments can also be made by dropping an envelope containing your check (no cash) into the drop box in the parking lot behind the Municipal Center.

Payments dropped in the drop box after hours on the due date will not be considered on time. Be sure to include the quarterly payment stub to ensure your payment is applied properly.

Electronic bank checks must be received in the office by the due date. Electronic bank checks dated for the due date, but received after the due date, will not be considered an on time payment. Check with your bank regarding payment schedule.

You may also choose to make payments via a credit card or debit card at Brattleboro.gov. This month, the Finance Department launched a new online platform for paying utility bills. Customers can establish recurring or one-time payments with a debit or credit card or by entering their bank information.

After registering, customers can elect to receive email statements only or continue to receive notices in the mail. There is a fee for this service.

The town can also accept credit card payments at the office over the counter; fees do apply.

If you choose to pay in person, the Finance Department's hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 111 of the Municipal Building.
