CD release concert with Eloise & Co. at BMC Nov. 21

BRATTLEBORO-Eloise & Co., the duo of fiddler Becky Tracy and accordionist Rachel Bell, will be joined by Rachel Aucoin Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. They will offer a concert at the Brattleboro Music Center to celebrate the release of their new CD.

Since 2015, Tracy and Bell have been playing traditional French, Celtic, and Quebecois tunes as the duo Eloise & Co. to explore their love of multiple genres. The band's name is inspired by Tracy and Bell's matching middle names, Louise. In 2017, they found themselves in a spontaneous jam session with Quebecois pianist Aucoin at a summer music camp. "The musical chemistry was instant and palpable," band members say.

Tracy and Bell are known in the national contra dance sphere, the trad concert circuit, and the bal folk music and dance scene. In April 2024, they and Aucoin performed a concert at the BMC. The BMC's Carol Compton recalls, "Weeks later, people were still talking about this trio and the concert. The programming was fabulous, the music extraordinary, and their connection with the audience warm and engaging."

Since that concert, the trio has performed on both coasts and is now back to unveil a new recording, Avec Elodie (with Elodie), Aucoin's middle name. "Their trio sound is a celebration of Celtic and bal folk traditions as well as contemporary compositions emerging from those roots," organizers say.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and are available at bmcvt.org, 802-257-4523, and info@bmcvt.org.
