Next Stage hosts Winter Solstice celebration

PUTNEY-Next Stage Arts invites the community to celebrate the Winter Solstice with an afternoon of seasonal activities, creativity, and song Sunday, Dec. 21, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill. The event is free, and attendees are encouraged to RSVP at nextstagearts.org.

This family-friendly celebration offers a cookie swap. Community members are invited to bring a batch of their favorite homemade cookies to share. Drop off 2 to 4 dozen cookies and a recipe card between 2 and 3 p.m., then return to pick up a beautifully mixed box of treats between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Bakers may sign up in advance at nextstagearts.org. From 2 to 3 p.m., participants of all ages can decorate Luminaria bags that will line the outdoor walkway.

At 3 p.m., musician Rich Grumbine will lead a community sing. Attendees can sing from a 60-song holiday songbook featuring traditional classics, secular tunes, and songs for kids. Lyrics will be projected on the main theater screen, making it easy for everyone to raise their voices together.
