Water study presented in Dover

DOVER — A draft version of the town of Dover Water System Feasibility Study will be presented to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Dover Town Hall on Dover Common, 189 Taft Brook Rd.

The draft results will be presented by the Dover Municipal Water Task Force and Christina Haskins of the Dufresne Group Consulting Engineers. Haskins is the lead engineer on the study, and the Dufresne Group was awarded the study contract by the town earlier this year.

The draft includes results of the recent townwide survey of residents, voters, and property owners. The survey asked voters to answer a number of questions about concepts for a water system for East Dover and West Dover. Dufresne Group received more than 500 responses to the survey.

The Jan. 7 presentation will also include potential design concepts for a water system and review cost estimates, possible funding sources, and options for constructing a system in multi-year phases. A follow-up meeting with the final water study results is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 11. More information is available at doververmont.com.

At the Putney Public Library, 55 Main St., on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 6:30 p.m, he’ll share photos and stories of his travels this fall when he walked about 430 miles on the Voie de Vézelay, one of the Camino de Santiago routes through France.

“He hiked through lovely rolling countryside, stopping in quaint villages and impressive cities along the way,” wrote organizers in a news release. “Peterson’s previous library presentations about his walking treks were exciting, engaging, and enjoyed by all.”

Putney Historical Society seeks board members

PUTNEY — Additional board members are sought for the Putney Historical Society (PHS), up to four. The board meets once a month at 6 p.m. in the Putney Town Hall. These are volunteer positions.

Currently, some board members catalog artifacts, research the development of historic properties, and take care of the collection. Other board members are interested in curation, new and engaging ways to share their collection, and teaching oral history. Volunteer work is not limited to these activities, however, according to PHS President Tom Jamison.

For more information or to apply, contact the historical society at putneyhistory@gmail.com or 802-387-4411. The society’s website (putneyhistory.us) includes many years of newsletters containing articles, photos, and other news, both new and old.
