Pianist Bill McKim headlines Holiday Benefit Concert in Guilford

GUILFORD-Concert pianist Bill McKim is headlining a Holiday Benefit Concert Saturday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at Guilford Community Church, 38 Church Drive.

McKim is an alumnus of the New England Conservatory in Boston, where he performed for many years on radio, television, and in concert halls such as the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where he played nearly 20 performances.

McKim will play a selection of holiday-themed pieces, all composed by Charles Lindberg, who transformed simple carols into pieces characterized by “technical virtuosity, clarity of touch, humor, and a sparkling, radiant tone,” McKim said, in short, “Brilliant Pianism.”

Joining McKim will be members and friends of the congregation, including Mariam Diallo, a Vermont All-State Jazz Performance 2025 Scholarship Winner and a senior at Brattleboro Union High School, who will perform “A Child Is Born,” accompanied by Indigo Goldman on piano; instrumentalist Dennis Price performing a flute solo, “In the Bleak Midwinter”; Katharine Breunig performing “Away in a Manger” and “Angels We Have Heard on High”; and Terry Sylvester and Rachel Johnson performing a vocal duet, “Mary, Did You Know?”

There is no admission charge, and donations of cash or check would be appreciated. Complimentary light refreshments will be served downstairs in Zeller Hall following the concert. All proceeds from the concert series benefit the church, which is handicapped accessible, and actively supports numerous local programs and organizations serving the wider community.

Directions to 38 Church Drive: From Interstate 91 Exit 1, go south on Route 5 to just past the Guilford Country Store, left on Bee Barn Road, left again on Church Drive. For information, contact the church at 802-257-0994 or guilfordchurch@gmail.com.
