BMC Chamber Series presents Ignat Solzhenitsyn March 29

BRATTLEBORO-Conductor and pianist Ignat Solzhenitsyn will perform Sunday, March 29, at 4 p.m. as part of the Brattleboro Music Center (BMC) Chamber Series.

The program will feature an arrangement revised and recorded by Solzhenitsyn in 2014 of Joseph Haydn’s “The Last Seven Words of Our Savior on the Cross,” HOB. XX:IC (1786).

Solzhenitsyn is a winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the conductor laureate of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and the principal guest conductor of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. He serves on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music. He has been featured on many radio and television specials, including CBS Sunday Morning and ABC’s Nightline.

Of local interest, Solzhenitsyn is a BMC alum; as a young child, he studied with Chonghyo Shin.
