BELLOWS FALLS-Tyler Gilbert was 12 years old when his life was brutally and suddenly taken away on Aug. 4, 2021. In a matter of just a few seconds, his life was stolen from him. He had just graduated sixth grade that June and would be starting middle school, with his friends, in late August at Brattleboro Area Middle School.
Who would think that Tyler would be violently killed by someone who was supposed to protect him, nurture him, and love him?
No more baseball games, no more playing with friends, no more birthday parties, no more riding his four-wheeler or going to MMA fights. No girlfriend, high school graduation, fiancée, wedding, children....
"In one moment, I lost my son, and my heart still mourns the life we shared together," says his mother, Christie Gilbert, who, to keep Tyler's memory alive, established a scholarship fund at Brattleboro Union High School.
To date, the fund has awarded $5,000 to graduating seniors wishing to continue their education.
Please consider donating to this wonderful cause. Checks can be made payable to the Tyler Gilbert Memorial Scholarship Fund and mailed to Windham Southeast Supervisory Union, 53 Green St., Brattleboro, VT 05301 (Attention: Jodi Nutting).
If you wish to help sponsor the Tyler Gilbert Memorial Softball Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31, at Living Memorial Park, please make checks payable to Jean Gilbert (same address as above). All net proceeds from the softball tournament will be placed into the Tyler Gilbert Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Come join us and enjoy a few softball games and partake in some great raffle prizes, 50/50, and food by Mama T's and 802 Soul Kitchen.
