Nominations open for 2026 Rockingham Old House Awards

BELLOWS FALLS-The Rockingham Historic Preservation Commission invites residents to nominate properties for the 2026 Rockingham Old House Awards.

For nearly three decades, the Old House Awards have celebrated the people who help preserve the character and history of Rockingham through the care, restoration, and improvement of older buildings. Since the program began in 1997, more than 180 historic properties throughout the town have been recognized.

"Every restored porch, fresh coat of paint, repaired window, or carefully maintained storefront helps keep Rockingham's history alive," said John Leppman, chair of the Commission, in a news release. "We hope residents will help us discover the many projects - large and small - that deserve a shout-out this year."

Anyone may submit a nomination, whether or not they own property. Eligible properties must be at least 50 years old and located anywhere in the town of Rockingham, including Bellows Falls, Saxtons River, Bartonsville, Cambridgeport, Brockways Mills, and the surrounding rural areas.

Awards are presented in several categories, including residential, commercial, and multi-family properties. To nominate a property, simply send the property address - and, if known, the owner's name - to clg@rockbf.org. Nomination forms are also available from the Rockingham Historic Preservation Commission.

Nominations will remain open through Labor Day, with award recipients announced in the fall.
