Senior lunch in Newfane
NEWFANE — The monthly senior lunch will be served Thursday, Aug. 13, at noon at the Congregational Church. On the menu are zucchini pancakes, green salad, pickled zucchini, zucchini hamburger casserole, and zucchini bread, with zucchini chocolate cake for dessert.

Peach supper in Dummerston
DUMMERSTON — Evening Star Grange in Dummerston hosts its annual Peach Shortcake supper on Saturday, Aug. 15, with servings from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Takeouts will also be available during this time.
The menu features baked ham, baked beans, scalloped potatoes, and summer squash casserole, with peach shortcake with real whipped cream for dessert.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 5–11, and free for children under 5. Reservations are suggested, though walk-ins are welcome. Senior meal in Halifax
HALIFAX — On Friday, Aug. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. volunteers will prepare and serve the monthly Senior Meal at Community Hall.
The menu will feature cucumber salad, baked ham, deviled eggs, stir-fried vegetables, bread, and dessert. Come at 11:30 a.m. to socialize and enjoy an appetizer. The main meal will begin around noon. A suggested $4 donation ($5 for those younger than 60 years old) will help to support the Halifax Senior Meal.

Prouty Center presents outdoor movie night
BRATTLEBORO — The Winston Prouty Center invites you to their second annual free outdoor movie on the field Friday, Aug. 21, at 7:45 p.m. This year’s movie is The Goonies (1985), a classic adventure film about a group of kids who discover a pirate map and set off on a treasure hunt to save their neighborhood from developers.
Visitors should bring chairs or blankets to sit on. Popcorn and other refreshments will be available for purchase to support inclusive education and family support.
Paint and write postcards with Brattleboro Indivisible
BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Indivisible invites all to paint postcards with watercolors and write to encourage likely voters in key races around the nation to register to vote.

Explore prehistoric life among dinosaurs at RFPL
BELLOWS FALLS — The Rockingham Free Public Library invites families to experience “Among Dinosaurs,” a free live animal program presented by the Vermont Museum of Natural History Saturday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m., at the library.
More than just a dinosaur program, “Among Dinosaurs” gives audiences the opportunity to meet live animal ambassadors while discovering the incredible creatures that shared the world with dinosaurs.
Museum educators from the Vermont Museum of Natural History will introduce live animals alongside fossils as participants explore prehistoric mammals, ancient ocean invertebrates, mysterious sea creatures, and the plants and animals that flourished during the age of dinosaurs.
Through this engaging, hands-on experience, visitors will discover how many ancient lineages survived for millions of years and how some prehistoric relatives are still alive today, making connections between Earth’s distant past and the living animals they encounter. Clothing Closet opens in BF
BELLOWS FALLS — Organizers say St. Charles Daughters of Mary “Clothing Closet” is off to a great start due to the generosity of parishioners and friends of the Closet. Gently used, clean clothing is available for either a modest donation or an item to swap.
They currently feature a variety of summer dresses, tops, and pants for women; pants and tops for men; and a growing selection of clothing for babies, toddlers, older children, and teens. Summer sandals, sneakers, and accessories are also available.
Located in the St. Charles Social Center on 34 Cherry Hill St., the Clothing Closet is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments can be made with Katherine by calling 802-463-0729, if you have an immediate need. No one will be turned away due to the lack of donation.
If you wish to donate gently used, clean clothing and footwear, organizers say they are especially interested in items for babies, toddlers, older children, and teens at this time. Clothing donations are accepted during their business hours.
