WEST BRATTLEBORO-West Brattleboro will come together for a neighborhood celebration Saturday, Aug. 22, as West Brattleboro Connects, in collaboration with local businesses, civic groups, and community partners, presents the inaugural West Brattleboro Community Day.
Designed to highlight the vibrant spirit, independent businesses, and strong knit community of West Brattleboro, the full-day festival spans multiple hubs along and adjacent to the Route 9 corridor.
"West Brattleboro has an incredible heartbeat, driven by independent business owners, community advocates, and families who care deeply about this area," Angela Earle Gray, one of the event coordinators, said in a news release. "Community Day is our way of opening our doors, showcasing what makes our corridor so special, and creating an inclusive space where everyone can connect and celebrate."
Other members of the West Brattleboro Connects event planning team are Marcel Maxwell, owner of 802 Soul Kitchen and Vanessa Gorman-Dow, park manager at Tri-Park Housing Cooperative. The Windham County United Way is serving as the fiscal sponsor for the event, and will be hosting its connection booth at the craft and flea market.
Event highlights include a craft and flea market hosted at Vermont Hempicurean (257 Marlboro Rd.), featuring local makers and vendors; a free clothes swap at Thrifting New England (55 Marlboro Rd.); feats of strength and a membership raffle at Pale Horse Barbell (55 Marlboro Rd.); dog agility, scent work, and training demonstrations at Yankee Dog (127 Marlboro Rd.); and free family activities and a bounce house at Tri-Park Housing Cooperative just off Route. 9. Entertainment includes Karaoke with Simon Diamond, and a classic rock concert featuring the Wyld Nightz band.
