WESTMINSTER-We are about six weeks away from the midterms. If you're frustrated with the economy, Congress, or the policies shaping our lives, then this is the time to turn that frustration into action.
Several of my friends are overwhelmed, exhausted, and have been tempted to give up. I understand that feeling, but I won't stop fighting for what I believe in. It more important than ever to speak up and do something!
The secret, in my opinion, and what has worked for me, is to find something you are passionate about and put your energies into that. We can't fix everything, but we can pick our lane!
My lane is voting. Are people registered to vote? Do people need a ride to the polls? Do they know when and where to vote? Do they understand that their voice matters and that their vote is power? That's my lane!
Your lane may be something different.
My good friend's daughter had no interest in politics until it affected the national parks. That has become her lane.
Your lane might be postcards, phone calls, conversations with friends and neighbors, or writing letters to the editor.
Please choose a lane and work it. Spend 15 minutes a day - it's doable and, while it might not seem like much, multiply it by thousands of people, and it becomes one voice and it becomes powerful. It is "We the people."
