BRATTLEBORO-Save A Life Day, a countywide effort to prevent overdose deaths, is scheduled Thursday, Sept. 24, from noon to 3 p.m. at four locations.
Participants can receive free Narcan (naloxone) and a five-minute training in Brattleboro at Pliny Park, 180 Main St., or on the Whetstone Pathway adjacent to the Brattleboro Food Co-op, 2 Main St.; in Townshend at River Bend Market, 625 Vermont Route 30; or in Bellows Falls at Parks Place Community Resource Center, 44 School St. Extension.
"Carrying Narcan is one of the simplest and most effective ways community members can help prevent an overdose death," said Save A Life Day organizers from Community Substance Use Response (CSUR) in a news release, adding that the treatment is easy to use and "will not harm someone if they are not experiencing an opioid overdose."
Free Narcan is available year-round through CSUR at 802-275-7232. "Save A Life Day builds on that ongoing work by increasing access to Narcan, reducing stigma, and empowering everyday people to be prepared to respond when a life may be at risk," according to the news release.
