Our story about the probable merger of the Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce with the Brattleboro Regional Chamber of Commerce [“‘A stronger vision, a stronger voice, and a larger region to serve,’” News, Sept. 16] was accompanied by a composite photo that fell short of the mark in multiple respects.
Owing to an error in the caption of a photo that we published years ago, the head shot that we captioned as Gary Fox was not, in fact, Gary Fox. It was a photo of the late Hal Wilkins.
The caption also was missing the identification of the predominant image, of the Flannel Festival. It’s just as well the information was missing from the caption (though it was present in the story). The festival will not take place this year, which contradicts information on the Chamber’s website and Facebook page.
The photograph of Brattleboro Regional Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rachel Ebersole? At least we got that one right.
Our apologies for the multidimensional errors. This is unacceptable, and we have already introduced new ways to avoid such gaffes from making their way into print. We always want to know when we fall short of the mark, and we appreciate the messages alerting us to the errors.—Jeff Potter, editor
