Folk and chamber music to ‘meet and dance’ at string concert Nov. 7

BRATTLEBORO-In Full Flow, a concert featuring new pieces by area female composers, is scheduled Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Brattleboro Music Center (BMC), 72 Blanche Moyse Way.

Performing composers will be Lissa Schneckenburger on fiddle, Laurel Swift on fiddle and double bass, Valerie Thompson on cello, Rachel Clemente on harp, and Grace Schlett on percussion.

“The audience will immerse itself in a space where folk music and chamber music meet and dance,” organizers wrote in a news release, “visiting a place where art and tradition bounce off each other to make something new and unexpected.”

The concert is part of the BMC’s EOS Project, short for “educate, open, strengthen,” which focuses on composers who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color as well as those who “identify as anything other than cis male,” according to the BMC.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and are available at bmcvt.org, or by contacting the BMC at 802-257-4523 or info@bmcvt.org.
