SOUTH NEWFANE — The Rock River Artists are offering some lucky pair a free weekend for two in a charming cabin along the Rock River in South Newfane to coincide with the annual Rock River Artists Open Studio Tour.
Maybe it's you.
The tour takes place Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The winners of the free weekend will receive a two-night stay with breakfast in a guest cabin on the grounds of photographer Christine Triebert and designer Carol Ross.
The winners are invited to the Rock River Artists' Friday night dinner and exhibit preview, which showcases the work of each of the 16 participating artists on this year's tour. The dinner and exhibit are held in the historic Schoolhouse in South Newfane village, just a short walk from the cabin.
On Saturday night, the winners will be invited to enjoy appetizers at the hilltop studio of printmaker Kim Hartman Colligan, then enjoy a community barbecue at Williamsville Hall.
The Rock River Artists Tour, now in its 21st year, offers an opportunity to visit 16 studios, homes, and working environments to see how fine art and craft is made. A variety of media are represented on the tour, including painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, woodworking, mosaics, collage, sculpture, and printmaking.
The artists' studios are all within a four-mile drive of the Schoolhouse, with many to be found in tucked-away places not visible from the road and feature lush gardens, hilltop views, river frontage, and unique rural settings.
