BRATTLEBORO — Youth Services is holding its third Battle of the Bands as part of its 45th Anniversary celebrations this year.
Area youth bands can launch their musical careers by competing at Youth Services' Battle of the Bands: The Snaz and Nomad vs Settler are past winners. The competition will take place at the River Garden on Friday, Nov. 3, during Gallery Walk Night, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Bands will be judged on crowd appeal, musical technicality, stage performance, and originality, according to Russell Bradbury-Carlin, Youth Services' Executive Director.
“Whether or not the bands decide to make a career out of making music, they will gain experience that will help them to be successful in any career,” Bradbury-Carlin said.
First prize is a full day (up to 10 hours) of professional recording time donated by Guilford Sound, valued at $1,500, and 20 custom-designed T-shirts donated by Green Tees.
Guilford Sound is a residential recording studio in Guilford, owned by renowned sound engineer David Snyder. There also will be second and third place prizes.
“Youth Services' Battle of the Bands celebrates the entrepreneurial nature of young musicians forming bands and expressing their musical inspiration,” Bradbury-Carlin said.
Interested bands with at least one member age 20 and under are encouraged to sign up online to compete.
