BRATTLEBORO — The membership of the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center elected Ann S. Macdonald to the Museum's Board of Trustees at the annual meeting of the members on March 14.
Nominated by the Museum's governance committee, Macdonald joins 17 others at the helm of the contemporary art museum. The first act of the newly constituted Board of Trustees was to elect five officers to one-year terms.
BMAC Director Danny Lichtenfeld said of Macdonald in a news release, “I am thrilled that Ann has agreed to lend her talents and enthusiasm to our already strong Board of Trustees. She and her husband are generous supporters of BMAC, and Ann has wonderful ideas about how we can do even more to enrich Brattleboro and the surrounding region.”
Macdonald contributes extensive nonprofit board experience and lifelong devotion to arts.
Originally from Kentucky, she and her husband, Charles Raubicheck, fell in love with Vermont when their son, Alex, went to Keewaydin Camp on Lake Dunmore 26 years ago. They bought a home in Newfane in 2001 and eventually moved to Putney full-time in 2014.
Trained as a social worker, Macdonald has been an active community member, volunteer, and networker everywhere she has lived.
In Vermont, she has served on the boards of Yellow Barn Music School & Festival and Latchis Arts. In Brooklyn, Macdonald was active with Brooklyn Community Services, Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, and Gilda's Club.
In a brief meeting immediately following Macdonald's election, the Museum's newly constituted Board of Trustees elected five officers to one-year terms.
Dan Yates was elected president. Yates is the president and CEO of Brattleboro Savings and Loan, a position he has held since January 2008. He also serves as a board member and treasurer of the Latchis Corporation, a board member of the American Bankers Association, and chair of the Investment Committee at the Stony Brook School on Long Island.
Yates is a past chairman of both the Windham & Windsor Housing Trust and the Vermont Bankers Association.
Susan McMahon and James D. Meltzer were elected co-vice presidents, Fred Moriarty was elected treasurer, and outgoing president Christopher G. Chapman was elected secretary.
Trustees elected to a second three-year term included Christina Herbert, Laura A. Howat, Steve Lloyd, Susan McMahon, and Fred Moriarty.
