Latchis to screen ‘In Search of Mozart’

BRATTLEBORO — Latchis Arts' new film series, The Great Composers, featuring films on the world's most influential composers, continues with In Search of Mozart on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15 and 16, at 4 p.m., at the Latchis Theatre.

Developed by Seventh Art Productions, which also produces the popular Exhibition on Screen series, The Great Composers films are written and directed by Phil Grabsky and narrated by Juliet Stevenson.

In Search of Mozart is told through a 2,500-mile journey along every route Mozart followed. “This is a detective story that takes viewers to the heart of genius,” according to a news release. In Search of Mozart traces the composer's life through his music and extensive correspondence.

More than 80 of Mozart's works are featured in chronological order, revealing striking parallels between the music and Mozart's own life. Throughout, the music takes center stage; with rigorous analysis from scholars, a new, vivid impression of the composer emerges. The film dispels the many myths about Mozart's genius, health, relationships, death, and character.

The Great Composers series continues April 4 and 5 at 4 p.m. with In Search of Chopin and April 18 and 19 at 4 p.m. with In Search of Haydn.

Admission is $12, $6 for students, and tickets are available at the door. To learn more, visit latchisarts.org or contact Jon Potter at jon@latchisarts.org or 802-254-1109, ext. 3.
