Benefit Concert for Ukraine set for March 4

BRATTLEBORO-A benefit concert for Ukraine, to recognize the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and to raise money for urgently needed medical supplies, will be presented on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. at the Latchis Theatre.

The concert features three locally based groups:

• Windborne, an internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, performs songs from social movements over the centuries, drawing connections between struggles for justice from the past and present.

• Sammy and Brothers blend traditional African styles, specifically from the Democratic Republic of Congo and East Africa, with vocal and instrumental arrangements, and message-driven songwriting.

• West Willow, an octet of gifted singers, is directed by Peter Amidon. Members of West Willow are professional touring musicians, and sing in many local vocal ensembles.

There will also be a cocktail reception with a cash bar featuring Saxtons River Distillery's cocktails, and a silent auction.

The concert benefits Blue/Yellow USA, a nonprofit organization providing medical supplies and medical support solely for Ukraine.

"As the Russian invasion continues to destroy Ukraine, the need for critical medical supplies increases exponentially," organizers wrote in a news release. "In the rush to keep frontline soldiers alive, the most urgently needed medical supplies are tourniquets and chest seals."

A $30 donation pays for a tourniquet. A $20 donation covers the cost of a chest seal. A $50 donation pays for a Front Lines Life Lines Kit with a tourniquet and a chest seal. Direct donations may be made at 803-BlueYellow.

Advance tickets for the concert are $25 to $100 and may be purchased at bit.ly/803-Ukraine.
