NXT Gallery presents ‘Life in Vermont and Mexico’ by Carol Keiser

PUTNEY-Next Stage Arts announces the opening of "Life in Vermont and Mexico," a new exhibition of paintings by Carol Keiser. The opening reception will be held Sunday, Nov. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m., offering an opportunity to meet the artist and experience her work firsthand.

Keiser's paintings are inspired by her life in the countryside of Putney, and her experiences living in Mexico, a country known for its vivid colors and striking contrasts. Through her work, Keiser "captures the energy and magic of color, exploring landscapes, still lifes, and figure studies with a keen eye for the relationships between hues," organizers wrote in a news release. "Each painting acts as a visual diary, chronicling the places she has been and the emotions they have stirred."

"I am always looking, looking, looking," Keiser said in the news release. "Most often it is a color, or a particular color relationship, that moves me to capture the essence of what I see."

Keiser grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and studied at the University of New Hampshire, Ohio State University, and Antioch University New England. She also trained in figure drawing at the Art Students League of New York. Settling in Putney, she ran a pottery studio before launching a hand-painted tile business, blending her love of color with her knowledge of ceramics. Today, she divides her time between Vermont and Mexico, traveling and painting internationally.

Her work has been widely exhibited in the United States and Mexico. Keiser was inducted into the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) in New York in 2015, has been listed in Who's Who since 1995, and will appear in Volume 12 of International Contemporary Artists this year.

The exhibition will remain on view through Feb. 15, 2026. The Next Stage Gallery is open during events and by appointment. To schedule a visit, contact Next Stage at info@nextstagearts.org or 802-387-0102. More information and RSVP are available at nextstagearts.org.
