PUTNEY-Putney Public Library “Writers Salon,” a winter Zoom series, welcomes Emma Paris and Roxanne Bogart Thursday, March 26, from 7 to 8 p.m.
The salon hosted by the library and Toni Ortner, who lives in Putney and has had 34 books published by small presses. Most recent are The Van Gogh Notebook by Dancing Girl Press and Prayers Are the Kites We Fly by Rockwood Press.
Paris and Bogart will be reading from their work. Paris, the 2025–26 Vermont Youth Poet Laureate, is a sophomore at Bennington College, where she studies Poetry and Environmental Science. She has been published in journals such as Chautauqua, Zaum magazine, Chariot Press, Harpur Palate, Moria Literary Magazine, and Snaggletooth Magazine.
She has an American Voices Nomination from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, is a 2025 Adroit Prizes Commended Writer, and organizers say she has been nominated for the 2026 Pushcart Prize. Paris has interned at both Green Writers Press and the Bennington Review, working on their respective editorial staffs. Keep up with her on Instagram at @vt_youth_poet_laureate_2025.
Bogart is a writer, editor, and wildlife biologist who gathers inspiration and imagery for her poetry by spending deep time in nature. She worked for 30 years for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and is currently retirement. Her full-length book of poetry, All That Sustains, was published in 2022.
