BELLOWS FALLS-Three contested races will appear on the ballot in the annual Bellows Falls Village Corporation election on Tuesday, May 19. Voting takes place at the Masonic Temple on Westminster Street from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
For the one-year seat for village president, political newcomer Wendy M. Levy will face Deborah Wright. The position became open when longtime village president Paul Obuchowski chose to not seek re-election.
Three candidates are running for two two-year seats for village trustee: incumbents Wade Masure and Taylor Pichette, and challenger Stefan A. Golec. Jeff Dunbar is running unopposed to fill the remaining term of a two-year seat.
Two candidates are running for village treasurer: incumbent Donna J. Harty and Pamela Willard.
Village moderator Dennis Harty and village clerk Kathleen Kelly are unopposed for their respective positions.
The village corporation’s annual business meeting takes place Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. in the lower theater of the Bellows Falls Opera House.
Voters will consider a proposed $1,846,569 village budget for fiscal year 2027, with $1,807,069 to be raised by taxes and $39,500 by non-tax revenues.
Also on the warrant is a request to authorize the village trustees to convey ownership of a parcel of land on 170 Rockingham St., current site of the Bellows Falls Police Department, to the town of Rockingham.
