Grafton Library presents an evening with three Vermont poets

GRAFTON-Join the Grafton Public Library on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., for an evening with three Vermont poets, as part of their ongoing Neighbor-to-Neighbor Discussion Series.

Brattleboro poet Tim Mayo will read from his latest poetry collection, Muscle Memories of Love and Disaster, exploring grief, loss, mortality, the suffering and hopes of the mentally ill, and the rebirth of falling in love late in life.

Grafton poet Nancy Richardson’s poems concern the politics and personalities of our time. Her book, An Everyday Thing, about the shootings at Kent State University, was named one ofthe 100 best independent books of 2018 by Kirkus Reviews, who described it as “a dazzling work by a deeply intuitive writer.”

“Bill Toomey, a Grafton man, has been writing what he thinks is poetry for all his life,” organizers wrote in a news release. “But is it? He invites you to judge. Come and listen!”

There will be time for discussion after the readings, and signed copies of books will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served.

Registration is strongly suggested for this event, as seating is limited and the program will not be recorded. Email librarian@graftonpubliclibrary.org to register. For more information, visit graftonpubliclibrary.org.
