PUTNEY-Throughout his service in the Legislature, Rep. Mike Mrowicki (Windham-4) has worked to improve the lives of children and families.
For example, he was instrumental in moving forward the bill that created the Vermont Youth Council in 2022, after five years of effort. Two youth representatives from each of Vermont's 14 counties meet regularly and report to the Legislature and the governor.
Mike knows how to build legislative coalitions around challenging issues and in the face of oppositional lobbying. In his second term, he was given responsibility to guide through the legislative process a bill providing significant amendments to the 1996 law protecting children from the hazards of lead paint in older housing stock.
The pro-gun lobby fought the bill, which they maintained would prohibit gun owners from making lead bullets. Ultimately, Mike brought disparate groups together, negotiating successful passage of the bill.
Issues that affect people's lives are Mike's focus: housing, healthcare, education, redistricting, the environment, social justice, the economy, taxes. He has served most recently on the House Appropriations Committee, which oversees all bills that have money attached to them.
Mike's commitment to his constituents, to their quality of life, and to their future, merits his re-election.
