Application period begins for 2026 Brattleboro Town Arts Fund grants

BRATTLEBORO-Arts Council of Windham County (ACWC) has opened the application period for the 2026 Brattleboro Town Arts Fund (TAF).

In this, its sixth, year the TAF program will offer grants between $1,000 and $3,000 for community-focused creative projects in Brattleboro. Applications are due by March 1, 2026, for projects taking place between May 2026 and April 2027. The program overview and application guidelines can be found at artswindhamcounty.org/taf.

The Town Arts Fund is a program that has been fueled by community initiative and is open to a wide range of projects and participants.

TAF’s mission, according to a news release, is “to promote the development and presentation of creative projects that contribute positively to the greater community and to the vibrancy and diversity of Brattleboro’s arts and cultural landscape. TAF projects explore social and quality-of-life issues in the community, are collaborative in nature, expand accessibility and visibility for underrepresented artists and audiences, and highlight Brattleboro’s unique assets and qualities.”

Within the past six years, TAF has received more than 154 grant applications, awarding over $80,000 in grant funding to 53 community projects. TAF-funded projects have included diverse creative projects and practices, including public art and murals, free performances and workshops, film screenings, audio interviews, creative mutual aid, youth programming, and various multidisciplinary performances and workshops in dance, puppetry, and visual arts. A full list of past TAF-funded projects can be found on ACWC’s website.

The application is open to creative individuals, organizations, artists, and culture workers at any phase of career or level of experience. First-time grant seekers are welcome and encouraged to apply. A total of up to $30,000 will be awarded in this year’s grant cycle. With a maximum award of $3,000, the program seeks proposals for projects that are relatively small-scale and achievable within the project period (May 2026–April 2027).

For those interested in learning more about the TAF application process, eligibility, and other questions, ACWC will be hosting “TAF Open Hours” at Patio Coffee, located in the Hooker Dunham Building at 139 Main St., Wednesdays, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. and Feb 18 at noon.

The Brattleboro Town Arts Fund is a program of the Arts Council of Windham County and made possible by support from the Town of Brattleboro. If there are questions, email townartsfundbratt@gmail.com.
