‘Taking Solace’ series continues
BRATTLEBORO — On Wednesday, February 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brooks Memorial Library, Center for Solace will present the film Holding Our Own with a discussion to follow. This one-hour film includes the work of local artist Deidre Scherer and the music of Center for Solace chorus Hallowell.
The film will be followed by a community dialogue about the unique power of the arts to help offer solace in difficult times.

Pre-kindergarten registration now open
BRATTLEBORO — Windham Southeast School District is now accepting Pre-K registrations for children who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2026. Registration forms are due by Feb. 13.
Classes follow the school day and calendar. Transportation is available, and there no cost to attend. Space is limited; if there are more children than spots available, they will use a lottery system to fill the classes.
RFPL invites community to ‘Pawject Runway’
BELLOWS FALLS—Rockingham Free Public Library invites pet lovers of all ages to celebrate creativity and companionship this February with “Pawject Runway,” a month-long series of no-sew, pet-themed activities held every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and ending with an online photo show at the end of February.
Each Saturday features a different hands-on project that participants can make for their pets or favorite stuffed animal. To participate in Pawject Runway, attendees simply need to join one or more “No-Sew Saturdays” and create a project. Then, take a photo of your pet (or stuffed animal) wearing, snuggling, or playing with the handmade item and send it to the library.
Submitted photos will be featured in the library’s Pawject Runway Photo Show. All photos must be submitted by Feb. 28 to be included; photos can be emailed to pawjectrunway@rockinghamlibrary.org. Photos should be of pets and stuffed animals only.

Lydia Taft Pratt Library hosts Mrowicki
WEST DUMMERSTON — Lydia’s Friends Inc., the friends-of-the-library organization that supports the Lydia Taft Pratt Library, will host a visit with Dummerston’s state representative, Mike Mrowicki, Sunday, Feb. 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Dummerston Community Center, 150 West St.
The community is invited to hear him speak on the importance of active participation in our democracy, as well as the benefits of service to the community. The public is invited to bring questions and learn what’s on the agenda in the Statehouse. Send your legislator a Valentine card
BRATTLEBORO — On Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., Brattleboro Indivisible and ACLU-VT will host a postcard and letter writing session Vermont legislators at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St.
“We will write postcards to our Vermont legislators to thank them for their good work in saving democracy and encourage them to keep it up!” organizers wrote in a news release. The event is free; stamped postcards and writing materials will be available. Senior meal in Dummerston
DUMMERSTON — Evening Star Grange and Senior Solutions will present their second Wednesday Senior Luncheon Feb. 11, with take outs available between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and in-house serving set for noon. The menu includes turkey pot pie, vegetarian beef pot pie, mashed potatoes, and marinated carrots, with pineapple-cherry crisp with pretzel topping for dessert.
Reservations are strongly encouraged to help with shopping, but they won’t turn anyone away until they run out of food. Just call the Grange at 802-254-1138 and tell the machine the name, phone number, number of meals needed, and whether they’re for eating in or taking home. The answering machine is always on, so call whenever you want. A donation of $4 for those 60 and over eating inside and $5 for those 59 and under and all take-outs is suggested.
