BRATTLEBORO — Full-year access stickers for the Windham Solid Waste Management District (WSWMD) transfer station on Old Ferry Road are now on sale for $60, the same price as last year. Access stickers are required to drop off trash, recycling, and food scraps/organics.
This is an opportunity for first-time transfer station users to grab their sticker early on and essentially get two months free. Those already in the program choose whether to get their new sticker early or wait until June 30 to renew and have continuous support for trash, recycling, and composting needs. Whether access stickers are bought now or July 1, the sticker numbers will be valid until June 30, 2027.
Visit windhamsolidwaste.org/transfer-station/disposal-and-recycling-fees to see what WSWMD accepts, whether an access sticker is needed, and the current price listings. A number of services do not require an access sticker to use, such as disposal of liquid paint in cans, electronics, batteries, and more.

-The Brattleboro Bears and Bellows Falls Terriers varsity baseball teams are in a down cycle this season, with smaller rosters and lots of inexperienced players. They faced each other May 1 at Tenney Field in a game that served as a good barometer for where they both stand. BF managed to take care of the key things — pitching, defense, and hitting — and came away with an 8-3 victory over the Bears, a team that has been struggling in...
Nancy Braus, a retired independent bookseller, is a longtime activist. Her surgery took place on May 4, and she reports that her care at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital “was wonderful.” GUILFORD-I have now very reluctantly and angrily joined the club of women (and a few men) with treatable breast cancer. It’s treatable. But it’s terrifying. I am fortunate that my local hospital has moved very quickly from ultrasound to surgery, as I very much look forward to the unwelcome intruder leaving...

We have many interests to balance as we look to the future: the needs of our community members, youth and adults alike; the needs of our natural environment; and the needs of our built environment, including preserving...
