WILMINGTON-Deerfield River Valley Resilience in Shifting Environments (RISE) is inviting all residents of Readsboro, Wilmington, Whitingham, and Dover to attend its public presentation Friday, Dec. 5. The presentation will begin at 9:15 a.m. and will include an hour-long informational session and discussion.
Deerfield River Valley RISE is a collaboration between the University of Massachusetts at Amherst's Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning and the Windham Regional Commission. The mission of this project is to help the four towns adapt to climate change and mitigate flood risk by creating equitable and lasting tools that connect public concerns with meaningful analysis.
The presentation will be held simultaneously at the Wilmington Town Office Meeting Room, 2 East Main St., and livestreamed via Zoom. The event will also be recorded and posted to the project website.
Members of Deerfield River Valley RISE project will be present to answer questions, guide a community conversation, introduce a community engagement board game, and outline the next steps for the community to take to improve flood resiliency.
The presentation is a culmination of a four-month project in which participants have identified the opportunities of varied futures by honoring both local knowledge and regional data. The presentation also marks the beginning of the next phase of work for the towns. For more information, visit deerfieldvalleyrise.com or contact regionpl675-cbarcher@umass.edu.
